The function of smoke curtains (along with other components) is to control the movement and/or accumulation of smoke and heat. Smoke curtains can collect smoke and gases with temperatures exceeding even 600 degrees Celsius, but they should not be confused with fire partitions. The curtains are primarily intended to prevent the free spread of smoke and fire gases in rooms with large areas – such as warehouses, halls, etc. Due to their important role in the fire protection system, their selection should be the responsibility of the facility designer who will select the curtains for their specific use.
